Jennifer Clemons is an associate teaching professor for the Energy and Sustainability Policy bachelor’s program and the Renewable Energy and Sustainability Systems master's program. Her experience is in energy education, specializing in solar design and finance. She is a North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) certified Photovoltaic (Solar) Instructor.
Clemons has led study abroad courses in Denmark, Switzerland, and Japan. She was a CO-PI on the NSF National Energy Center (createenergy.org), working to support energy faculty around the country through curriculum and professional development. In this role, she is working to broaden participation in energy careers to increase the number of women and underrepresented minorities in the energy field. Before teaching at Penn State, Clemons taught at the community college level in energy and solar programs for over fifteen years. She recently was an author on the 6th edition of “Energy: Its Use and the Environment” (2024) published by Cengage (ISBN 978-0-357-71942-8). She was awarded the 2024 Clean Energy Education & Empowerment (C3E) award sponsored by the U.S. DOE for her leadership in Education.
