This summer the department will again be offering up to 25 paid student research internships working with EME faculty members and industry mentors on eight to ten-week research projects. The projects will require approximately 40 hours per week of effort, with weekly team-building activities, including webinars organized around essential and timely energy topics and technologies.
The summer research program is designed to help students gain a deeper understanding of their options in the mineral and energy engineering fields while building a foundation in fundamental research skills. Students identify areas of interest so they are aligned with the most applicable research project and mentor.
Who should apply?
All EME undergraduates are invited to apply, but special priority will be given to students who are:
- Sophomores who are considering or planning to enroll in a major in the department, including those at Commonwealth campuses.
- Juniors (or higher) currently enrolled in the department who are considering applying to our graduate program.
- Juniors (or higher) at other universities and colleges who would like to sample research topics in the department and would consider applying to our graduate program.
