Richard L. Gordon Distinguished Achievement Award in Mineral Economics and Energy Business and Finance
Shelley Corman Frisby has 37 years of experience in business development, commercial operations and regulatory affairs for natural gas transmission assets. Her expertise includes developing pipeline expansion projects, FERC rate and certificate regulation, and commercial operations.
Shelley is currently the Vice President of Business Development for Boardwalk Pipeline Partners. She previously led the commercial operations of Energy Transfer’s interstate pipelines and has held positions at Howard Energy, Transcontinental Gas Pipeline, the Enron Gas Pipelines and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
She holds a B.S. in Mineral Economics from Pennsylvania State University, as well as an MBA and a J.D. from the University of Houston.
During her long career, she has been involved in tremendous changes in the natural gas industry, including the restructuring and unbundling of pipelines, changes in environmental permitting and stakeholder engagement, and changing flow patterns from new natural gas shale development, the rise of gas-fired power generation and LNG exports.
Shelley credits her Mineral Economics education and especially her time with Dr. Schenk and Dr. Gordon as giving her the analytical framework to respond and lead through these changes. She says that one of the most interesting current challenges is helping natural gas pipelines adapt to electric resource intermittency and the integration of renewable resources into the power grid.
