The Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering offers a wide-variety of scholarship opportunities to undergraduate students pursuing degrees within the department. Many of our scholarships are funded by donations from individual alumni and friends while others are the result of corporate gifts. In 2007/2008, the department was able to award over $275,000 in scholarships and awards.
Students are evaluated based on the criteria of each individual award (i.e. academic merit, financial need, PA residency, etc.). Incoming first-year students are automatically considered for scholarships based on academic merit and financial need. They do not need to fill out an application form.
Some graduate students in the department receive teaching assistantships (TA) or support from research funds. Those who work as TAs are eligible to be nominated for the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award.
