Overview

On January 23rd and 24th, 2008 the Penn State Miner Training Program will host the 12th Professional Development Mine Safety Seminar for Supervisors at the Holiday Inn Conference Center — Lehigh Valley. The seminar, co-sponsored by industry and government stakeholders, is the premier opportunity of the year to enhance the safety management skills of front-line supervisory personnel. The seminar (January 23rd) features a keynote address by a well known miner safety leader, R. Larry Grayson, a mock trial on mine safety law, and timely presentations by industry and government safety leaders on such topics as:

  • Ground Control
  • Contractor Safety
  • Workplace Examinations
  • New Tools for Supervisors
  • Administrative Hazard Controls

Following the keynote address, a team of attorneys will present an informative and memorable mock trial on mine safety law issues of the day.

The second day of the program (January 24th) consists of individual workshops on several practical topics, including:

  • Accident Investigation
  • Fall Protection in Mining
  • DEP Chapter 209 Update
  • Workplace Inspections

Attendees may choose from several workshops.
