Information for Recruiters

The most effective way to connect with EME students is through an on-site visit to the department. We encourage companies to hold an information session during which they can give some background on their organization and the type of positions they are looking to fill. This is typically followed by one or more days of scheduled interviews with those students in which the company has an interest.

Beginning in Fall 2009, we will be partnering with the College of Engineering in using the eCareer online scheduling system (Symplicity software) to organize and arrange our recruiting visits. The benefit for our recruiters is that with one online registration they gain access to all interested students in our department as well as all programs in the College of Engineering.

Using the eCareer System

We have created eCareer accounts for those recruiters who have visited us in the past year, and we have contacted them directly with their account information. New contacts wishing to set up a recruiting visit can visit the eCareer employer log-in page and click on "Register" to set up a new account. Once your registration has been approved you can log-in and request dates for a visit.

Other Ways to Reach EME Students

Sometimes a departmental visit is not the best option for a company. Some larger organizations looking to interview students from multiple disciplines prefer to arrange their visits through Penn State's Career Services division. Because EME students are so heavily recruited and are accustomed to many companies visiting the department directly, we recommend that if you will be arranging your visit through Career Services, that you also contact the department to help publicize your visit and the necessary procedure for applicants.

Sometimes a campus visit is not possible at all. A great many smaller organizations approach our students electronically. Job Postings giving details about open positions and application procedures also can be entered into the eCareer System for all registered students to access.
