Biographical Sketch
R.J. Briggs is an Assistant Professor of Energy and Environmental Economics with interests in the environmental impacts of resource use, design of environmental policy, and measurement of the health effects of pollution. A northern California native, Professor Briggs has pursued interdisciplinary interests throughout his career. He holds a dual Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of California, Davis. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as a Research Programmer for the RAND Corporation. Professor Briggs earned his Ph. D. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, with fields in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics and Public Economics. During his doctoral studies, he also studied Indoor Air Quality as an NSF-IGERT trainee in Indoor Environmental Science and Engineering. As part of this program, he interned with the Environmental Energy Technologies Division at the U.S. Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
Professor Briggs is a former scholar in the American Economic Association's Minority Summer Training Program and a recipient of the Harrington Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin.
