The
11th U.S./North American Mine Ventilation Symposium was held on
the University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University
in State College, Pennsylvania.
Located
in the heart of the state, Penn State is surrounded by scenic mountains
and rolling farmland, and yet the adjoining municipality offers
all the amenities of a metropolitan area: a first rate public transportation
system, world class theater and concert events, and advanced technological
light industry and research facilities.
Penn
State was founded in 1855 and was designated the Commonwealth’s
sole land-grant institution in 1863. Since then it has grown from
a small agricultural college to become one of the world’s
most distinguished public universities.
The
Symposium was held at the Penn
Stater Conference Center and Hotel, which was rennovated and
expanded in 2004, making it the largest, most flexible, and technologically
sophisticated conference center hotel in the area. Maps,
travel tips, and driving directions to the conference center
can be found on the Penn Stater web site.
Additional
information about the region can be found at the Central Pennsylvania
Visitors Bureau website - http://www.visitpennstate.org/. |
