Driving Directions to State College, Pennsylvania

Driving from New York City and the East: Take I-80 W in PA to Exit 161 (Bellefonte). Follow PA 26 S to US 220 S, and take Exit 74 for Innovation Park/Penn State University.

From Philadelphia: Take the PA Turnpike/I-76 W to Exit 247 (Harrisburg East), and follow signs for the next 15 miles to Route 322 W. Take 322 W past Lewistown toward State College (staying on 322W at Boalsburg), and take the Penn State University/Innovation Park Exit.

From Harrisburg: Take 322 W past Lewistown toward State College (staying on 322W at Boalsburg), and take the Penn State University/Innovation Park Exit.

From Pittsburgh: Take Route 22 E to Duncansville. Merge onto Route 220/I-99 N toward Altoona and go north for 24 miles. Turn right onto US 220 toward State College for 11 miles; merge onto Route 322 E to State College.

From the West: Take I-80 E in PA to Exit 161 (Bellefonte). Follow PA 26 S to US 220 S, and take Exit 74 for Innovation Park/Penn State University.

From Washington, DC: Take Route 270 N toward Frederick and then I-70 west and north to the PA Turnpike W. At Bedford take US 220/I-99 N toward Altoona and go north for 24 miles. Turn right onto US 220 toward State College for 11 miles; merge onto Route 322 E to State College.


Air Travel

The closest airport (less than 10 miles from campus) is the University Park Airport (code: SCE). Daily connections include:

Delta Connection: 4 daily flights to/from Cincinnati, Ohio
Northwest Airlink: 2 daily flights to/from Detroit, Michigan
United Express: 4 daily flights to/from Washington D.C. Dulles Airport
U.S. Airways Express: 7 daily flights to/from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and 1 daily flight to/from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Ground Transportation

Car rentals:
Alamo, Avis, Hertz, and National Car Rental kiosks are available on-site at the University Park Airport.

Taxis and Shuttles:
From the airport taxis/shuttles charge about $10-12 to the city center.

Some local hotels also provide complimentary shuttle service to and from the University Park Airport.

Buses:
The Centre Area Transit Authority (CATA) runs the local bus system. There is no bus service to the University Park Airport, however, they otherwise have an extensive schedule. They also run the free "LOOP" and "LINK" shuttles serving Penn State University.
