Three field trips were offered on Thursday, June 8th to various sites where new technology and research methods are being developed, used, or implemented for more effective mine ventilation.

Longwall Mining Tour
Limited to 7 participants.

A visit to one of Foundation Coal’s outstanding longwall operations in Greene County, PA.


Pleasant Gap Mine Tour
Limited to 5 participants.
Thursday, June 8, FEE: $50

Tour of a large-opening, limestone, underground mine operated by Graymont (PA) Inc. and located approximately fifteen miles from State College, that has recently implemented new concepts for improving ventilation. The mine is constructing Super Stoppings and has some propeller fans in use.
