They are found in government agencies and in the construction, energy, minerals, chemical, transportation, and heavy manufacturing industries. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects employment in safety specialist occupations to increase by 29 percent by the year 2005, with approximately 50,000 job openings for inspection or compliance officers in industry and government.
