Teaching Activities of Yongsheng Chen

Teaching and Learning Concepts:

  • Focuses on basic concepts and incorporates real life examples into lectures to show ‘usefulness’ of the knowledge and interest to students

  • Encourages interactions among students and between students and teacher

  • Promotes abilities to define a problem, gather critical information and find solutions

  • Cultivates skills for students’ professional growth such as presentation, writing, and networking

EGEE 101 (GN) (MATSC 101) Energy and the Environment (3) Energy utilization and technological development, energy resources, conversion and consequences on the local and global environment, and future energy alternatives. (Spring 2008)

EME 570 / MATSE 570 Catalytic Materials (3) Preparation and characterization of solid catalytic materials and the relationships between their surface, defect, and electronic properties and catalytic activity. A balanced coverage of materials properties and characterization techniques. Please see full course announcement here. (Fall 2008)
